M-Codes

A partire dall'Ottobre 1958, Volkswagen applicò ai veicoli Tipo2 una piastrina denominata "M-Plate". Questa piastra metallica fissata nell'abitacolo (più precisamente nella cabina di guida) riporta dei gruppi di numeri che descrivono le caratteristiche uniche del bus (come tipo di carrozzeria, numero di telaio, anno/mese di fabbricazione, colori interni/esterni di origine, ecc.). Uno degli aspetti più interessanti di queste targhette sono i codici di 3 cifre (codici Mehrausstattung, "M-Codes") che indicano le opzioni speciali e gli accessori che sono stati installati sul veicolo dalla fabbrica Volkswagen.


Solitamente la targhetta metallica in questione la potete trovare applicata dietro ad uno dei sedili in cabina, (indipendentemente se il veicolo ha il passaggio in cabina o meno) fissata con 2 piccole viti o rivetti. Decifrando i numeri presenti sulla targhetta metallica si può sapere molto sulle origini del veicolo, sulla sua destinazione e sulle sue dotazioni.

E' interessante l'uso degli "M-Codes" per poter tracciare la storia del vostro veicolo ma purtroppo la Volkswagen non è sempre stata affidabile al 100%; la documentazione stessa resa disponibile da Volkswagen non è così completa ed esaustiva ed alcuni codici rimangono tutt'oggi una sorta di mistero.

Qui di seguito trovate una lista abbastanza completa di tali codici M-Codes che potrà esservi d'aiuto per individuare le dotazioni e gli optionals presenti sul vostro veicolo, originariamente installati dalla casa costruttrice.
